My name is Shantel. I was born and raised in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. I came back to St. Croix to get married to my loving husband, Anthony Miller. I chose home because I wanted my husband’s family to learn my culture and see what my island had to offer.

I got engaged July 1, 2014 in Atlanta, Ga. I started to plan my wedding in September 2014. I told my family in St. Croix, I wanted to be married on the beach and my brothers recommended The Palms at Pelican Cove. I got in contact with Mark and Julie and the rest was history.

They were so nice and in every detail, I fell in love with the people and the place. The food was to die for. If you are looking for the perfect place to be married with an awesome atmosphere, The Palms at Pelican Cove is the place.

I was recommended to contact Glenda Carrasquillo, her business is called Party Perfection. When I called her and told her who I was and what I was planning, she listened and took my idea out of the box and made it more than what I was planning. Glenda stayed in contact with me and my family with every idea she had and she was very easy to work with.

Now that the wedding is over we remain friends. So, brides if you are looking for a detailed person who will listen and make your ideas bigger than what you expect, please call Glenda at Party Perfection.

My wedding cake was designed and made in St. Croix by Cecil Williams. I showed Cecil the cake design that I wanted and he made my dream come true.

The music for the wedding was provided by SupaTrakz Sound. If you are looking for that DJ that plays everything to satisfy your guests this is the right person. I got in contact with Termaine, I told him what type of guest was attending the wedding, and he told me, “don’t worry, I got this,” and he did.

My hair was done by Denise Daniels, she did an awesome job. Ladies, if you need your hair done and to remain excellent even after the wedding, this is the right person for you.

For my wedding I wanted a solo singer to perform while I walked to my husband during the ceremony. The person that I got was Leon Lafond from St. Thomas. If you want any song sang, this is the guy. He has a great voice, a great personality, very easy to work with and he is a good listener.

We had local entertainment performed at the reception by Ay Ay quadrille dancers. We got in contact with KC Henry, and the rest was history.

Finally, the best photography in the Virgin Islands is Denise Bennerson, she was very helpful and very detailed.

During our stay, our taxi driver was very good to us, his name was Hollywood. If you want to know the history of the island, he is a great tour guide.

My pins-on were made by Clara’s Special Occasions in Sunny Isles and my flower arrangements were made by Luz James florist.

My wedding experience was excellent, we have a lot local businesses and entertainers from St. Croix and St. Thomas. We need to believe more in our locals, give them the business and also give them the chance. I am very happy that I used my locals and my wedding was very memorable.
